art & Design Information

Entry requirements

A small number of our advanced courses require you to attend a brief interview or submit a portfolio before enrolling. This is to ensure that the course is appropriate for you and your goals. Courses requiring an interview include Foundation and Pre-Foundation courses, Advanced Workshops and our City & Guilds courses. Please check the details of your chosen course to see if an interview is required, and contact us to arrange a suitable time and date if necessary.

Several of our more advanced City & Guilds courses will require you to have achieved an earlier City & Guilds course before enrolling – please check details of your chosen course for further information.

For courses not requiring an interview or qualification we may still indicate a desired level of experience, to ensure the course is of a suitable level for you. Introductory or beginner courses are ideal for those wishing to try a course for the first time, whereas Intermediate or Advanced courses will usually require you to have some experience of the subject.

Short courses

If you are unsure about whether oil painting, sculpture or ceramics is the right course for you, or want to learn a specialised technique, why not try one of our one day or short courses? These offer an ideal opportunity to try your hand at something for the first time.

Additional costs

Unless otherwise specified, there may be additional costs for materials, portfolio sessions, models, trips to museums, galleries and shows. Your tutor will advise where appropriate, but you can also check the details of your chosen course for information regarding possible additional costs.

Accessibility

We regret that some teaching spaces used for art and design have no wheelchair access; this includes all printmaking and some painting & drawing classes. We are currently working towards making Morley fully accessible, but if you have any concerns about access please contact our Learning Support team for further details.

Learning support

If you have a learning difficulty such as dyslexia or a disability that might affect your learning or a mental health difficulty and would like to discuss how we may be able to help, please contact our Learning Support team.

Photography of work

Student work may be photographed and recorded for educational and publicity purposes by the College. Please let your tutor know if you do not want your work photographed and used for this purpose.
