Chinese (Mandarin) 2B

Covers more advanced Chinese speech patterns, grammatical functions and texts which will assist communication. Focus on acquiring speaking and listening skills by extensive oral exercises using everyday topics. Gain more understanding of Chinese culture via learning more Chinese characters and reading authentic texts.

Stage 2 - year two is for you if you have the equivalent of one year’s tuition (60 to 80 hours). This course follows on from Chinese 2A.

You can:

• understand and respond to straightforward factual information about everyday, study or work-related topics, identifying both general meaning and
• specific details
• participate in everyday conversation and short narratives on familiar topics when delivered in clear standard speech
• read and write short paragraphs on day-to-day topics covering basic grammar structures
• understand detailed directions, instructions and messages relating to everyday personal and work matters
