  • Academic Writing

    For students who are at ESOL Level 1 or above and are preparing for Access programmes or University entrance. The course develops academic writing, reading, discussion and presentation skills while looking at grammar, punctuation and style.

  • Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)

    The Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) is internationally recognised as an in-depth high-level test for advanced students of English. This course prepares you for the test and develops your language skills. Registration for the exam is external.

  • Entry English A

    This one term course will help you to gain confidence in essential reading, writing and spelling skills.

  • Entry Level ESOL Literacy

    One term (term 3) accredited afternoon course, for students with "spikey" profiles, whose spoken skills may be anything between established E2 to Level 1 but who in September or January had very limited Roman alphabet literacy or none at all. This term all students will take an ESOL S&L qualification and wherever possible an ESOL R&W qualification at a lower level (eg S&L at E3 and R&W at E1).

  • ESOL and Photography

    Develop skills as a photographer while exploring language and increasing vocabulary and grammatical knowledge through a powerful visual medium. The course includes songs, idiom and personal reflection. Students take the full Level 1 ESOL qualification (3 modes) at the end of the course.

  • ESOL Bridging Entry 3

    One term (term 3) accredited morning course for students who have been attending since September or January. Students will take ESOL Entry 3 S&L in June 2014. Some students may be entered for the full qualification but on the whole this group of learners will need up to two years to achieve full Entry 3. Students may need a lot of reinforcement and confidence building. Progression to term 3 will be dependent on excellent progress and 100% attendance.

  • ESOL Bridging Level 1

    One term (term 3) accredited morning course for students who have been attending since September or January. Students will take ESOL Level 1 S&L in June 2014. Some students may be entered for the full qualification but on the whole this group of learners will need up to two years to achieve full Level 1. Students may need a lot of reinforcement and confidence building. Progression to term 3 will be dependent on excellent progress and 100% attendance.

  • ESOL Entry 1 literacy

    One term (term 3) accredited morning course for beginners who have attended since September or January with limited spoken English and limited Roman alphabet literacy. Students may have no literacy in their L1 and may have no previous or very limited prior educational experience. All students will take Entry 1 S&L qualification this term. Some students will take the full qualification at Entry 1 if they have made outstanding progress. Progression onto this term is dependent on excellent progress and 100% attendance. TWO Bank Holiday Mondays will be made up at half-term.

  • ESOL Entry 1a

    One term (term 3) accredited afternoon course for beginner students who have been attending since September or January, who have made excellent progress and have excellent attendance. Students have Roman alphabet literacy although their written skills in English may be limited by the fact that they are beginner English learners. Students will prepare for R&W exams in July and will have gained the full Entry 1 qualification by the June 2014.

  • ESOL Entry 1b

    One term (term 3) accredited afternoon course, for students at Entry 1 in their oral and written skills who have attended since September or January and have made excellent progress and have excellent attendance. Not for total beginners but students must be literate in the Roman script. Students will prepare for R&W exams in July and will have gained the full Entry 1 qualification by the June 2014.TWO Bank Holiday Mondays will be made up at half-term.
