Academic Writing
For students who are at ESOL Level 1 or above and are preparing for Access programmes or University entrance. The course develops academic writing, reading, discussion and presentation skills and looks at grammar, punctuation and style.

Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
This course helps you develop your English at an advanced level and prepares you for the ‘Cambridge English: Advanced’ (CAE) exam which is recognised worldwide. Registration for the exam is external.

Entry Level ESOL Literacy
Three terms, afternoon, for students whose spoken skills may be anything between established E2 – Level 1 but who have very limited Roman alphabet literacy or none at all. Students may have no literacy in their L1 and may have had no previous or very limited prior educational experience. Students may take 2 years to achieve Entry 1 Reading and Writing.

ESOL Entry 1
Three terms, evening, for students at Entry 1 in their oral and written skills. Not for total beginners but students must be literate in the Roman script. Students will prepare for Entry 1 ESOL exams.

ESOL Entry 1 literacy
Three terms, morning, for students at Entry 1 with very limited spoken English and who also have very limited Roman alphabet literacy or none at all. Students may have no literacy in their L1 and may have had no previous or very limited prior educational experience. Students may take 2 years to achieve Entry 1 Reading and Writing, though some may achieve Speaking & Listening at Entry 1.

ESOL Entry 1a
Three terms, afternoon, for real beginners, emerging at Entry 1 in their oral skills, but who have Roman alphabet literacy although their written skills in English may be limited by the fact that they are beginner English learners. Students will prepare for Entry 1 ESOL exams.

ESOL Entry 1b
Three terms, afternoon, for students at Entry 1 (from post-emerging to established) in their oral and written skills. Not for total beginners but students must have Roman alphabet literacy. Students will preapre for Entry 1 ESOL exams.

ESOL Entry 2
Three terms, evenings, for students at Entry 2 in both oral and written skills (who have either passed full Entry 1 or demonstrate both oral and written competence at E2 at A&G). Students will prepare for Entry 2 ESOL exams.

ESOL Entry 2 Bridging to Entry 3
Three terms, mornings, for students who have passed Entry 2 in full (all 3 modes) but whose pace of learning is slow, whose literacy development may be slow and who may need two year to achieve Entry 3 reading and writing but who would achieve S&L in 1 year.

ESOL Entry 2 Literacy
For students who are at Entry 2 in spoken English but whose reading and writing in English is at Entry 1. Some students may take 2 years to achieve Entry 1 Reading and Writing though they may do Speaking & Listening at Entry 2 in one year.
